Are thieves good in GW2? ›

Thieves are less powerful in terms of durability in comparison to some professions. They must rely on stealth, evasion, surprise attacks, and debilitating and damaging conditions to overpower their opponents. An experienced thief can take on multiple targets but preferably one at a time.

Thieves to me seem like they have no benefits for group pve type activities, but lots of limitations. For example, thieves bring less group boons than other classes, almost no cleave damage, and on top of that have lower HP and less built in damage mitigation.

Khajiit, Wood Elves, and Argonians are all great their/assassin classes. In my opinion, Argonians are best for thief's, Wood Elves for assassins, and Khajiit are in between. Yes, they are the typical choices, however Dunmer are a very good choice if you want a vampire assassin.

Advantages to joining the Guild

Two suits of Thieves Guild armor and, subsequently, the Guild Master's Armor. Nightingale Armor, the Nightingale Blade, and the Nightingale Bow after proceeding up the ranks. Three interchangeable unique powers once the Nightingale story arc is complete. Access to Chillrend.

For PvE activities, the best classes in Lost Ark as of now are Paladin, Artillerist, Artist, Arcanist, Bard, Sorceress, Summoner, and Deathblade, while the strongest PvP classes now are Paladin, Gunslinger, Deathblade and Shadownhunter. These classes shine in the current meta and you can't miss by playing them.

If you want to have the easiest possible time when playing Guild Wars 2, from character creation to the latest content released, then the Necromancer class is for you. While lightly armored classes are usually squishy, Necromancers are incredibly tanky while also being able to summon an army to their side.

For ranged damage at PvE the best choices would be probably Mesmer (Mirage or Virtuoso), followed by Necro (Scourge, Harbinger) and Renebow. For PvP scepter Catalyst or Harbinger (that last one is solid but nowhere as powerfiul at the moment as the Ele specs).

Unlimited funds aren't the only rewards the Thieves Guild supplies players with, and a night in prison is not the only risk to joining. Despite the attraction of gold, Thieves Guild membership will impact the Dragonborn's reputation with certain characters and force players to understand the price of greed.
