Join the Bioeconomy Coalition of Africa Working Groups – Shape Africa’s Sustainable Future! (2025)

The Bioeconomy Coalition of Africa (BioCA) is now accepting applications for its six specialized Working Groups—an exceptional opportunity for Africa-based students and professionals to contribute meaningfully to the continent’s transition toward a sustainable, innovation-driven bioeconomy.

These working groups are focused on advancing key thematic areas that are vital to Africa’s socio-economic and environmental resilience:

Thematic Working Groups:

  • Green Bioeconomy – Agriculture & Forestry
  • Red Bioeconomy – Healthcare & Life Sciences
  • White Bioeconomy – Industrial Biotech, Bioenergy & Biomaterials
  • Blue Bioeconomy – Aquatic Resources & Marine Innovation
  • Policy & Governance – Regulations, Strategy & Implementation
  • Business Development – Innovation, Commercialization & Investment

Why Join?

Participants will collaborate with a dynamic network of stakeholders, including scientists, industry experts, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, to shape regional and continental initiatives. These groups are not just advisory—they are platforms for real-world action, offering contributors the chance to influence policy, co-develop innovation projects, and deliver impact across Africa.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of science, sustainability, and strategy, contributing to Africa’s leadership in global bioeconomy development.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to individuals who are:

  • Based in any African country
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate students
  • Early- to mid-career professionals
  • Passionate about sustainability, innovation, and development

No prior experience in bioeconomy required, but a demonstrated interest in one or more of the thematic areas is essential.
