The Bioeconomy Coalition of Africa (BioCA) is now accepting applications for its six specialized Working Groups—an exceptional opportunity for Africa-based students and professionals to contribute meaningfully to the continent’s transition toward a sustainable, innovation-driven bioeconomy.
These working groups are focused on advancing key thematic areas that are vital to Africa’s socio-economic and environmental resilience:
Thematic Working Groups:
- Green Bioeconomy – Agriculture & Forestry
- Red Bioeconomy – Healthcare & Life Sciences
- White Bioeconomy – Industrial Biotech, Bioenergy & Biomaterials
- Blue Bioeconomy – Aquatic Resources & Marine Innovation
- Policy & Governance – Regulations, Strategy & Implementation
- Business Development – Innovation, Commercialization & Investment

Who Can Apply?

- Undergraduate or postgraduate students
- Early- to mid-career professionals
- Passionate about sustainability, innovation, and development
No prior experience in bioeconomy required, but a demonstrated interest in one or more of the thematic areas is essential.
